Hannah: Class of 2016

October 7, 2015

Once upon a time. Fourteen years ago. I met an adorable four year old girl and her six year old sister. With chocolate brown hair and eyes that matched perfectly, I will never forget the way her chubby little cheeks made her eyes squish up when she laughed. And that laugh. She had the most infectious giggle I had ever heard. I will never forget the day I met that girl and her sister. Because one year later, I married their dad.

I have been so blessed to have such amazing girls as my stepdaughters. And Hannah is no exception. As with most blended families, the road has not always been easy. But I can say that without one single doubt, it has been worth it.

Hannah, I could probably write a million words about our history and about how much having you in my life means to me, but I’ll try and keep it short. You are one of the most hardworking and headstrong girls I know. You throw passion into everything you do, and because of that, all the pieces of the puzzle start to fall into place. I have watched you struggle to find answers when you’ve been unsure, and seen you make decisions that most adults cannot. You don’t let anyone push you around and you hide your heart from everyone, but at the same time you care so deeply for your entire family and those closest to you. I have watched you succeed and I have watched you fail, and I have watched you brush yourself off and get right back where you need to be. It has been an honor to call you my stepdaughter and an amazing journey watching you grow into the beautiful young lady you’ve become. I have loved you since the first day I met you, and I will love you beyond the last day I will know you. I cannot wait to see where the future takes you<3

Prom Queen

May 20, 2013

I met my husband eleven years ago….and not long after we met, I got to meet his two beautiful daughters. They were 4 and 6.

This past Saturday, Britany asked if I would stop over and grab a couple pics before her senior prom. I am not going to lie, our path from 4 and 6 to 15 and 17 hasn’t been all smooth sailing. There have been some big bumps in the road and little hiccups that most families with custody arrangements and stepparents have to face. Lately we don’t see the girls much, but it meant the world to me that Brit asked me to be there since her dad is out of town working.  Both girls have grown up into such beautiful human beings and I am excited to see what amazing things they do with their lives.  And well, if prom queen is any indication of greatness, Miss Brit is on her way<3

I hope everyone is ready for fall…and a whole bunch of seniors. ‘Cause seniors is pretty much all you’re gonna find on this blog for the rest of the week and then some:)

After I shot Dalton’s senior session almost two years ago, I was really looking forward to hanging out with his younger brother, Brody. There is no denying that the two are brothers and I am not even talking about looks. While Brody and I chatted (and hiked) during his senior session, it didn’t take long to know that these boys have been raised right. Hardworking, kind, polite, beautiful blue eyes and seriously infectious smiles. No really, go ahead and try NOT smiling back at this face;)

Brody, thanks for an awesome session! I wouldn’t mind one bit if my own son grew up to be just a little like you icon smile Winslow High School | Class of 2013: Brody  Have an amazing senior year and good luck at Orono!

I will never forget the first time I met her. She was six years old. She got her blonde hair and those cute squishy cheeks all from her dad. One year later, I was calling her my stepdaughter. Ten years later and I am shooting her senior pictures, missing those squishy cheeks and noticing how much her smile resembles her mother’s. And in many ways, her personality hasn’t changed one bit. She is and always has been quick witted, silly, gorgeous, a talker, quick tempered and most definitely a bit bossy. And for all those things I am so thankful that she came into my life and am so proud of the young lady she has become. Meet Britany.
