I am not even sure where to start in writing this post. Not only have I known Maggie as long as I have Zoe, but I can also count Mags’ momma as one of my closest friends. I can’t imagine a life without her and her mum in it. I definitely wouldn’t laugh as much! And that’s pretty evident even in this sneak peek. Between Maggie’s failed attempts at twirling, Josiah carrying her to where I needed her to stand and some unfortunate smells on the beach, we really had to work for some more subdued expressions. But that also meant that we got some pretty amazing natural smiles!

Kelly has done such an amazing job raising this beautiful soul, which I don’t think she gives herself enough credit for. Maggie is strong willed, outspoken and absolutely adorable. Her outspokenness, though, can sometimes be deceiving. Because underneath all that toughness, is the same sweet, caring and outgoing girl I’ve known for the past 12 years. She has always always made me laugh and question her common sense, but mostly she has always been one of my favorite kids to cheer on from the sidelines. Have a great senior year Mags, you are loved more than you know<3

I first met Zoe about 12 years ago when she and my daughter participated in our rec club’s fall cheering program. Zoe’s personality was and still is like no other. As a little girl, she was a bit of a wild child- quite silly, confident in herself and fearless. Now it’s been years since Zoe cheered. Being the youngest and having two scrappy older brothers, she needed a sport or two that kept her on her toes, challenged her abilities and allowed her to really apply her fearlessness. Fast forward to today and she is one of the strongest and fastest field hockey players on her team. But it doesn’t end with field hockey. Zoe’s fearlessness is probably best utilized on a wrestling mat, where she is not afraid to wrestle stronger male opponents and even has a regional title to be proud of. Athleticism aside, Zoe can be a little crazy (Seriously, who brings their cat to their senior session?) and sometimes a bit crass, but this big personality also comes with a lot of heart and she loves her friends and family fiercely. I am so thankful that my own daughter can count Zoe as one of her friends and will surely miss this girl calling me “mom”.

I hope your senior year is everything you hope for, Zoe<3

Two years ago, I received an email inquiry for a maternity and future newborn session. Fast forward two years and we have now completed not only those two sessions, but now a second maternity and newborn session as Serena and Corey have welcomed a sweet new little boy and Kai has moved his status up to “big brother”!  While Asher resembles Kai as a baby quite a bit, his hair is definitely darker and he really seemed to enjoy his first studio session. And lucky for us, the amazingly warm summer weather even gave us the opportunity to get a few shots outside under the apple trees:)

When Ashley contacted me to set up Avery’s one year session, I was a bit in disbelief that this sweet girl was already turning one. The last time I photographed her, she was less than two weeks old!  That was also in my old and cramped studio, so the opportunity to spread out in the new space and even shoot outside under the apple trees was so much fun. Miss Avery was simply perfect for her session. Even if we didn’t get much for smiles, her quirky little expressions defined her adorable personality perfectly.

I first met Kara’s mom years ago when my husband worked with Kara’s dad, and I quickly decided that Mo was one of the nicest ladies I had ever met. Never without a smile on her face, making you feel like she was always so happy to see you. Mo’s two girls were so close in age to my stepdaughters and I just adored their dimples and curly hair. Fast forward to Kara’s senior session and I was happy to find that those dimples were still so perfect and prominent. Kara was also a complete natural in front of the camera and seriously needed hardly any direction.

Kara, thank you for such and awesome session!  You are an amazing girl who is going to do some amazing things <3

I love love love me a beach session.. even if it means the drive will be over an hour;)  So, when Sloan’s mum contacted me to schedule her session, there was certainly no hesitation. Sloan is simply adorable and full of life and energy. She also has all her own ideas, so any real plan for posing this child quickly went out the window. That only meant that this entire session would truly capture Sloan’s personality as she was the one running the show <3

When you find clients who come to the studio on our regular basis to update their walls with beautiful photos, it completely warms your heart. I love knowing that these families trust me with their whole heart to capture all the fleeting little moments in their lives. And a huge bonus is getting to know their sweet littles and witnessing all the growing of their little families. Heather and Nick are no exception to this! I first met this family when I photographed Maddox’ big brother, Easton as a newborn….and now we’ve experience double the newborn sessions, double 6 months and now double one year sessions!! The boys definitely make me work during the sessions as they are often quite serious, so the few little smiles and smirks we manage are the ones I cherish (and not just because I know how exhausting that was, lol). It’s a good thing they’re cute;) Of course, Maddox’ one year session was no different. He was a little tired, but he slowly came around. Although, he definitely wasn’t a huge fan of the cake. No worries, that just meant mom and dad got to take some home for themselves!!

It’s always so much fun to explore one of my favorite places to shoot with seniors. Senior year is so exciting and I feel like senior photos are the first big milestone where it actually kicks in for a student that this is their last year of high school.  I have gotten to know Maegan in short little spurts over the past year or two as she plays field hockey with one of my girls, and I could not be happier that Mak can count her on her list of friends. Maegan has a fantastic outgoing personality and embraces little moments to get just a little silly. (Im sure she gets all that from her mom…right, Amy?!) She is the kind of person that just makes you feel good to be around. She also has this great guy in her life who was the perfect assistant for me throughout the session. Not only did he hold my reflector when needed and pull the wagon filled with all our stuff…he did not complain once when he needed to be in a few shots. He also earned himself a great new nickname in the process;)

So Amy, Maegan and Devon (Voopie), thank you for a fantastic session. I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

It’s been two years since this family was last on the blog. And in that time Ben and Bethany managed to add another sweet little girl to their bunch!  Miss Julia is so full of curiosity and smiles and fits perfectly with her siblings. We had so much fun exploring the garden at Pineland Farms and the kids were all troopers as we searched for bits of shade and enjoyed a little refreshing sprinkle from the gorgeous fountain. I’ve definitely said it before, but it is worth saying again, Ben and Bethany have the sweetest little family and are always such a joy to be around. Thanks for another fun session guys!

Just two days ago this sweet sweet little man celebrated his first birthday!  And sure it’s exciting when littles come into the studio and ham it up and enjoy a little cake smashing; but when you had the opportunity to shoot the maternity session AND the birth  (my favorite!)…you just feel a little more of a connection. Of course, it is even more fun when I get to see him outside of work on a fairly regular basis and truly enjoy all the quirkiness of this little bald man. On the day of his session though, Oliver was a bit tired and we really had to work to get even one smile out of him. No worried though, even without a big smile…ugh that face! I just can’t get enough of him! Oh, and he definitely could not get enough of that cake <3

Happy Birthday, Oliver!  I can’t wait to continue to watch you grow<3
