I first met Dominic about two years ago in New Hampshire.  At the time, this boy had recently learned to walk and his hair was a bit more red like his mama’s…and he was super excited to see his daddy returning from deployment. Well, so much has changed and yet stayed the same in the past two years. Daddy is deployed again, but this time he has a sweet baby brother to tell all his secrets too. Oh, and to teach all about ever single Skylanders character you can imagine.  That part’s not actually a secret….he will tell anyone who will listen:)

If you have been following my blog for any amount of time, you probably know that OpLove sessions are near and dear to my heart.  For more information on this amazing program, click here icon smile Operation Love ReUnited: Dominic and Antonio

When I first received Diana’s request for a pre-deployment session, I was excited like I am with all OpLove sessions. Diana is from Colombia and Alex is from Maine, but they are currently living in Kansas. They planned to be in Maine for Alex’s brother’s wedding a few weeks ago, and Diana found me through my blog. (Yes, bonus points for Diana!)  Anyway, when I met Diana and Alex in person for their session, I was even more excited.  This is one stinkin’ cute and in love couple!  And Miss Diana, well she is just one of those people that come into your life and you instantly know you are going to be great friends:)

Diana and Alex, I wish you both all the love and luck in the world through this deployment. Alex, stay safe and stay smart…and Diana, make sure you let me know when you are back in Maine this fall. Enjoy your sneak peek !

It’s been quite awhile since I last had an OpLove session, so here’s a little backstory to what it’s all about…

When my husband and I were expecting our son seven years ago, one thing we were not fully expecting was a deployment. I can’t say exactly how I did it, but I made it through a whole year with a four year old and an infant with a husband overseas. It was scary, sad, humbling, overwhelming….you name it, I felt it. And I feel like I am a stronger human being because of it. Because it is in those times where you think you can’t possibly take another step and you feel like your world is crumbling around you, that you learn the hardest lessons, fight the toughest battles and are reminded that somewhere in this big bad world someone else is facing even bigger challenges. In honor of those facing big challenges, I looked for a way I could give back through my photography. That’s when I found Operation: Love ReUnited. OpLove photographers offer free sessions to soldiers deployed, deploying or returning from combat zones. Once the session is complete, we compile a small album and ship it directly to the service member overseas at no cost to the soldier or their family.

Okay, now onto what an actual Oplove session really looks like. Last week I met up with Audrey and Bryant…one of the sweetest couples I have ever met and I can’t wait to work with them again one day. Seriously, they are stinkin’ adorable:)

Audrey and Bryant, it was an honor to meet and photograph the both of you. Your love for each other melts my heart and there is no doubt in my mind strength in that same love to conquer the impossible.
