This family will always hold a special place in my heart and I am so honored to have photographed so many important milestones in their lives. I also kind of can’t believe that it was already time to photograph Spencer’s six month session! And not only was I ready for capturing six months, we snuck in some family photos and did my best to capture Madden’s quirky personality as well. Madden has become such a great big sister and she constantly makes me laugh. She is also FULL of energy and a bit exhausting. I. Love. Her.  Spencer is also beginning to develop his own personality and finds his big sister fascinating and a bit silly.

It’s always fun when your business brings you to cross paths with old friends, and that’s exactly what happened with Evan’s senior session. Evan’s stepmom and I went to high school together and I always thought she was one of the kindest people on the planet. And that HAS to be true, because Evan is also a sweet kid and that has to be thanks also to how well his mom and stepmom co-parent. I don’t think most people realize how much of a challenge blending families can be and, in the short time we were all together, it was evident that these two moms had their stuff together.

Evan was awesome to photograph and went along with whatever I asked him to do. I really enjoyed our conversation about track and how terrifying the hurdles really are as we moved throughout the arboretum to each location. Evan has such a sweet and easy going personality that is undoubtedly going to take him far in life.

It’s almost beyond comprehension how long I’ve been photographing Liv, and that’s totally okay with me since she is adorbs and now has one of the cutest little boys on the planet!  Not to mention a little boy who’s first words were “Deb-Deb”! *Swoon* Of course Oliver was his super rambunctious self and made up his own rules for pretty much our entire session. But that’s okay, because we all know I love a good challenge… and a fun way to get all my steps in for the day!

Adam met Jen at the local Legion Hall where each of their family are members. From their first conversation, they instantly knew they belonged together. These two are simply perfect for each other….and seriously, so cute! When Jen came to me with the desire to do an engagement session at a local fair, it was an immediate yes for me. But then when they showed up with the most adorable outfit selection and the request for a vintage vibe, my insides were screaming…YES! So, while we may have looked a little out of place, we ignored all the side glances and explored the fair like we were still twelve years old. All sessions should be this much fun<3

I haven’t known Kaylei quite as long as I have the past two seniors I’ve posted here on the blog, but that doesn’t mean I adore her any less. Kaylei is a sweet and quiet girl who has recently become one of my daughter’s closest friends, and I am so grateful for that. I feel like we all need certain types of friends in our lives – one of which is a friend who isn’t too quick to react and in turn keeps you grounded. Kaylei has a simplicity and maturity to her that far surpasses many adults I know, and I feel that alone is going to take her places in life.

Kaylei, I am so happy that you are a part of my life and Makayla’s, and I wish you nothing but the best your senior year and every day for the rest of your life. Go make us proud, kid <3

I am not even sure where to start in writing this post. Not only have I known Maggie as long as I have Zoe, but I can also count Mags’ momma as one of my closest friends. I can’t imagine a life without her and her mum in it. I definitely wouldn’t laugh as much! And that’s pretty evident even in this sneak peek. Between Maggie’s failed attempts at twirling, Josiah carrying her to where I needed her to stand and some unfortunate smells on the beach, we really had to work for some more subdued expressions. But that also meant that we got some pretty amazing natural smiles!

Kelly has done such an amazing job raising this beautiful soul, which I don’t think she gives herself enough credit for. Maggie is strong willed, outspoken and absolutely adorable. Her outspokenness, though, can sometimes be deceiving. Because underneath all that toughness, is the same sweet, caring and outgoing girl I’ve known for the past 12 years. She has always always made me laugh and question her common sense, but mostly she has always been one of my favorite kids to cheer on from the sidelines. Have a great senior year Mags, you are loved more than you know<3

I first met Zoe about 12 years ago when she and my daughter participated in our rec club’s fall cheering program. Zoe’s personality was and still is like no other. As a little girl, she was a bit of a wild child- quite silly, confident in herself and fearless. Now it’s been years since Zoe cheered. Being the youngest and having two scrappy older brothers, she needed a sport or two that kept her on her toes, challenged her abilities and allowed her to really apply her fearlessness. Fast forward to today and she is one of the strongest and fastest field hockey players on her team. But it doesn’t end with field hockey. Zoe’s fearlessness is probably best utilized on a wrestling mat, where she is not afraid to wrestle stronger male opponents and even has a regional title to be proud of. Athleticism aside, Zoe can be a little crazy (Seriously, who brings their cat to their senior session?) and sometimes a bit crass, but this big personality also comes with a lot of heart and she loves her friends and family fiercely. I am so thankful that my own daughter can count Zoe as one of her friends and will surely miss this girl calling me “mom”.

I hope your senior year is everything you hope for, Zoe<3

Two years ago, I received an email inquiry for a maternity and future newborn session. Fast forward two years and we have now completed not only those two sessions, but now a second maternity and newborn session as Serena and Corey have welcomed a sweet new little boy and Kai has moved his status up to “big brother”!  While Asher resembles Kai as a baby quite a bit, his hair is definitely darker and he really seemed to enjoy his first studio session. And lucky for us, the amazingly warm summer weather even gave us the opportunity to get a few shots outside under the apple trees:)

When Ashley contacted me to set up Avery’s one year session, I was a bit in disbelief that this sweet girl was already turning one. The last time I photographed her, she was less than two weeks old!  That was also in my old and cramped studio, so the opportunity to spread out in the new space and even shoot outside under the apple trees was so much fun. Miss Avery was simply perfect for her session. Even if we didn’t get much for smiles, her quirky little expressions defined her adorable personality perfectly.

The fact that I am actually writing this blog post makes me want to vomit a little. Seriously, how can my little girl already be a senior?! Our path together has not been an easy one as I had to make a lot of tough decisions when she was super little. That being said, where our family stands today is a testament to the fact that all those tough decisions were the right ones. I am so proud of Makayla and some days I just can’t believe how great she turned out;) Mak is incredibly creative, likes spending time with family and loves fiercely.

Mak had a ton of different locations picked out for her senior session – and we may get to some others in the next few weeks- but we decided to start with the beach. My youngest asked to tag along, which turned out to be the perfect solution for some natural smiles. Izzy was in the silliest of moods and upped her photobombing game throughout the session:)
