A short and welcomed break in all the rain we have had lately was perfect for Sunday morning’s maternity session with Mike and Annie.  I have known Annie for a couple years now as we used to dogsit her adorable Boxer, Yager. Fastforward and she has now gotten herself hitched, added another adorable pooch to the mix and they are anxiously awaiting their little miracle. Now it is arguable that all babies are miracles, but there is something even more special about babies who overcome the odds when complications arise. Annie had surgery early on in her pregnancy to remove a cyst in her abdomen, and her little guy is now almost ready for his big debut.

We started out early in one of my favorite spots to shoot. And yep, it was a bit chilly without the sun, but Annie and Mike were good sports and we got some really great shots.

Annie and Michael wanted to be sure the dogs had a part in their session too, since they are such a big part of their lives. So we headed back to their house for a few other takes. I just got a new set of strobes and really wanted to try some dramatic lighting and convert the images to black and white.  Gotta say….I am pretty happy with the results. And Annie, are you kidding me with those eyes?

Okay, time for a little fun with the four legg-eds. I am really loving these <3

Annie and Mike, thank you for asking me to capture this precious time in your lives. And if there is any question as to what kind of parents you will be…well, any parent who has the ability to make their dogs smile is bound to make some very happy babies.

Yesterday’s maternity session would not have been complete without the couple’s furry family members. And there is no denying the larger than life personalities of the two dogs, which was just perfect for a smile on yet another rainy Monday morning.

So, meet Kuma and come back tomorrow to meet the rest of his family:)

 Monday Sillies: Kuma

Who’s ready to meet the rest of little Miss Emma’s family? This group of adorableness was given a gift certificate for a family session and I couldn’t have asked for a more fun and relaxed Saturday morning session. This was a morning filled with a longer than planned for nature hike, a small diaper accident and boo-boo evidence on a little guy who’s blanket-turned-cape got a little out of control the night before. But with all the things that could’ve and did go wrong, love won in the very end. Love always wins. And love is something that this family is not short on.

Carter is at that age where little boys are…..well, where they are little boys. Their personalities are larger than life and fat lips and bruised foreheads are the norm. I totally <3 that!

And then there is Miss Emma, who under any normal circumstances is a very happy baby. Family portraits, however, test her patience. Lucky for her, she is still stinkin’ adorable tears and all:)

Love Emma in this family shot….are we done yet???

And just to make it clear, Carter really loves his baby sister…

…I mean really LOVES her <3

Of course, it is not difficult to see where all that love comes from. *Sigh*

Monday Sillies

May 16, 2011

After spending a lovely sunny morning with the B family the weekend before last, I thought for sure little Carter would end up a feature funny for a Monday morning smile. That little boy was a bundle of energy and loved every minute of our little adventure, but it was his baby sister’s hilarious expression that just screamed to be posted to brighten up a dreary and rainy Monday morning.

If this doesn’t make you smile, maybe you really should go back to bed:)

For thos who do not already know, I volunteer my services with an amazing organization, OpLove:ReUnited. And while I have done a number of deploying and during deployment session, I had the opportunity to capture my first ever homecoming session this past week.

It still feels like yesterday that I was preparing for my own soldier to come home, and the feelings of anticipation came flooding back as I chatted with Jill and played with little Dom to help those last few hours and minutes pass by just a little faster.

The Happiest of Days: OpLove Homecoming

Just like my husband’s deployment, this one was a long one…14 months. Little Dom had only seen his daddy twice in his life and was even waiting to have his first birthday party until daddy was home.

As the buses filled with soldiers began rounding the corner, the anticipation and excitement was just amazing…

…and to be in the arms of your soldier again…*sigh*
