I think it is safe to say that this would be my last outdoor family session of the year. This session had been planned a little earlier in the season in warmer weather, but we had to reschedule due to a little mishap involving Kevin, a Jeep and a considerably large buck. Fortunately Kevin came out the winner; sadly the Jeep has seen better days. Lucky for the deer, he has found a new home: the freezer.

The day prior to this session, it was uncommonly warm and we kinda thought this day would follow in its footsteps. Yeah, not so much. It was a bit windy by the river and Shawn wanted nothing to do with not being held …or taking his thumb out of his mouth. So we did our best to make lemonade out of the lemons we were given, aka some gorgeous sunlight, and braved the chilly late fall morning.

I have known Jamie & Kevin for what seems like forever. And as with most great friends, we usually pick up right where we left off. Although, it seems that each time we get together one of us adds a new baby to our families:)

Jasmine is a bit shy when she meets new people, but it still doesn’t hold her back from being her inquisitive self and exploring.  I just love this series. She was really determined to get what she was looking for…

Jamie and Kevin, you know how to produce some pretty cute offspring:)

Thank you H family for a great, but chilly morning and for your patience in waiting for this post!  It was great to see you all again:)

I just have to start off by saying…Yes, I do in fact know that today is Tuesday. I also know that in one day I will be welcoming two more adults and four more kids into this happy household of which I will be cooking for 12 of us on thanksgiving day and then who knows how many more will be joining us for dessert.  I am super excited about it.  So much so, that I have taken advantage of DH being out of work and have “forced” him into home renovations.  At the moment, our living room and dining room are in one combined room which means turning the table so it flows across the living room and crowding the space for big dinners.  This year and before tomorrow morning, our living room will be a completely separate room from the dining room.  I think there has to be a tie for excitedness between the new spaces and some of my favorite out-of-town family members all arriving on the same day.

Sooo….here is the silliness post that should have been here yesterday.  Miss Jasmine is expressing a little bit of what I feel at the moment:)

 Monday Silliness: episode 1

So in my little his, mine and ours family with our five children there is absolutely no more talk or possibilities of babies. And I am totally fine with it, because I have the best job in the world.  I get to snuggle with everyone else’s babies once in awhile to get “my fix.” The latest and most anticipated baby boy has finally arrived, and yup i got my snuggle on. Just ten days after his big entrance into this world he was ready for his close-up:)  Remember how cute mom was when he was still cooking? No? Well, just check her out here and here. It was so fun to add dad to maternity session number two and just amazing to see how much this little man looks like his daddy.

How perfect is this little guy? Great job Mom and Dad:)

Connor wanted to be awake for most of the session, which also meant lots of leakage of fluids going diaperless if ya know what I mean. Poor Dad was definitely in need of a shower after this, but the shot was totally worth it.

Don’t forget that Mom and Dad are big Red Sox fans, so we definitely had to incorporate that in the session.  Turns out, they are fans of other New England teams too:)

Welcome to this world little man. And before I head off to wash all my props you left your marks on, I’ll leave you with one more of my favorites…

What the heck was I thinking? I definitely was not on any sort of vacation. But a whole week with no blog posts?!

This past weekend consisted of a family session with a great friend and her family as well as a 10-day old baby boy (he will be hitting the blog tomorrow!)  But there are times when shooting seems to slow down a bit and I am not sure what I’d like to share. Don’t get me wrong, I have lots to say.  But I want people to keep coming back.

So quick, get those comments coming and tell me what you want to see/hear about on the blog to fill in the spaces between the usual Sneak Peeks:)

Kali contacted me a few weeks ago looking to start building a modeling portfolio. Almost immediately a million ideas started flooding my head.  Now this was gonna be fun:)  Kali also wanted a few shots with her guy, especially since he was flying in from Virginia for just a week or so.

Turns out Kyle isn’t just a southern gentleman, he’s actually a great reflector holder too. I most definitely put him to work…

…and he didn’t complain at all. But really why would he? Look what he had to work with!

Kali, you are absolutely gorgeous and fun to work with.  I am looking forward to our future sessions as we continue to round out your portfolio.

November 3, 2010

He watched her as she told me the story. Their story. Before they were they. Both married to the wrong person. On the same weekend. Honeymooning in the same location. Divorcing within months of one another.

He interrupts. You love telling this story. She flashes a smile. Yeah, I totally do.

He helped her open a savings account and she handed him her card. He friended her on Facebook and sent her a message complimenting her on her artwork. He respected her relationship status. It’s complicated. Her friends threw her a divorce party. She came right home and changed her status. Divorced. He asked her to lunch. Engaged.

I love meeting new people. Especially totally in love people.  I also love learning new things. Especially when those new things are words. Pretzelize. It means canoodle. Yeah, I still wasn’t familiar with that one either, but that is one of Hillary and Adam’s favorite ways to spend time together so I had to ask. Lucky for me during our session they even gave me a visual.  My definition: extreme snuggling in which you lose track of who belongs to what body part.

There are so many things I love about Hillary and Adam. The way laughter comes so easily…

…the way they are totally in sync…

…the way they are always there for each other…

…but most of all, the way they inspire each other.

I knew exactly who she was when she walked around the corner. We were at a family event hosted by my husband’s National Guard unit. Beth was the last person I expected to see there, and my husband was wondering how the heck I knew her. More than nine years ago, Beth and I worked together. Both pregnant with our first munchkins. Today she is a soldier. And she’s expecting again.  But before we schedule any maternity session, a family session was overdue. In the nine years that had passed, there had been some big changes in both our families.

First off there’s this guy. Yeah, Beth kind of likes him. And they work great as a team looking after three and a half little monsters.

I love when my clients make suggestions for new locations, and was excited when Beth revealed she had a few in mind. What she didn’t tell me is that while the family loves to hike, it isn’t uncommon for them to get lost….even if they had been there before. Good thing I grabbed a bite to eat that morning and wore comfortable shoes.

It was a bit chilly, but refreshing. And the leaves crunched along our two mile trek. The girls stopped randomly to pose, but Jake was not having it.  A little cash bribery and the opportunity to snap a few of his own shots and we were back in business.  It was simply amazing how similar these three are. And just as amazing to see how different they also are.

Beth, Wayne, Jake, Belle and Jenna, thank you all for an adventurous morning!  It was fun to catch up after a few years and really get to know three amazing kids.
